How to get started

  1. Figure out a nickname - or a name you will use.
  2. Have an avatar or picture ready with a short resume, fill out profile first
  3. gmail account first, for all your social networking, Keep school address for school matters. Use a nickname.
  4. Google - set up an iGoogle page for yourself for rss feeds
  5. Firefox addons (Cool iris, foxmarks, colorful tabs) Plugins (Picaca, Sibelius, Flip-4-mac)
  6. Google stuff - calendar, maps and google docs - google earth
  7. Bookmarks - either del.icio.us or diigo.
  8. Twitter account - the fastest way to see what others are doing. Plurk account - you can pose questions and get repsonses.
  9. Plurk account, each 140 character post in a thread.
  10. Simple webpage to post.
  11. Second Life, virtual world and professional growth.
  12. Blog - set up a blog

 

Have a picture ready, a short resume (less than twenty words) that you will use for your profile.

Please fill out your profile immediately, with who you are, a picture and other important information.
